The Savegre River offers a world class experience with exciting class II-III rapids. The  stretch of whitewater in front of the lodge is great for families and friends year round. You will visit a beautiful waterfall along the way, and see incredible vistas of the tropical forest surrounding the lodge.

Whether you have ridden in the past or trying it out for the first time, Rafiki has a horseback safari for you. For those timid folks, we do have a few alternate routes. For the ones who want a little more action, ask your host or email us. We may have some more rigorous rides that might interest you!

Our kayak trip explores the remote wilderness of the Savegre River estuary and its mangrove forest. Amazing shore birds, monkey encounters, sloth sightings and breath taking scenery make this trip a once in a life time experience. The river and tides do most of the work, so you can relax as you glide along in one of our swift sea kayaks.

Come birding in Costa Rica’s Lowland Tropical Forest! The birds within this paradise valley are bountiful and the upper Savegre is already well known as a twitchers’ retreat. Less of its secrets are known in the lower part of the valley where Rafiki serves as the only destination to view them.

Catch a vegetarian piraña along the banks of the pristine Savegre River with a fly rod or see what you can pull out with a standard reel. The Savegre River is one of the cleanest rivers in Central America. With over 8 species of fresh water fish and a few salt water species swimming around, you never know what might be on the other side of the line.
